DELRAY BEACH, Fla., Feb. 7 /PRNewswire/ -- Celsius, the earth's first and only soft drink clinically proven to burn calories, has earned the 2005 Best New Product Award from Beverage Industry Magazine. Chosen from over 1,400 beverages introduced last year, Celsius was the only beverage selected in the energy drink category.
Judges had this to say about Celsius in announcing the award, "With obesity at the top of consumers' minds in 2005, Beverage Industry was intrigued by a product that promised to burn more calories. Elite FX released Celsius, a carbonated drink formulated to help consumers burn more calories."
Through its proprietary mix of natural ingredients, Celsius raises metabolism by 12% over a 3-hour period. This gradual rise in metabolism can result in burning up to an additional 77 calories based on an individual's metabolism, resulting in "net-negative" calories.
"Elite FX has taken a unique approach to bringing Celsius to consumers by clinically proving its calorie burning claims before coming to market," said Steve Haley, president of Elite FX, the maker of Celsius. "The double blind placebo controlled study conducted is considered the gold standard in research, and that study was published at the International Society of Sports
Nutrition by the Ohio Research Institute in June 2005." How do the results of the clinical study translate into results for Celsius drinkers? Ron Mendel, Ph.D., the scientist who conducted the study, states, "With no change in exercise habits, by drinking Celsius instead of a regular soft drink once a day for an entire year, an individual could theoretically lose up to 17 pounds."
The Beverage Industry Magazine tests evaluate a product from the
customer's perspective, asking such questions as "Does the product taste great? Is it compelling enough to try and dramatically different enough to ensure consumers will buy it again?" "It's an honor for Celsius to have been selected as one of the best," said Janice Haley, vice president of Marketing at Elite FX. "The real proof that Celsius delivers on its promise comes from
our customers who tell us daily about the great taste, energy and results they've achieved since making Celsius a regular part of their days. Whether they drink it before exercising, at work, or when they need extra energy to get through their busy days, our customers love what Celsius does for them."
